Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the first teaser images of the eagerly awaited IONIQ 6 N, marking the brand’s next bold leap in its electrification journey. Building on the runaway success of the award-winning IONIQ 5 N – which in just two years achieved countless industry accolades, motorsport victories, and record-breaking milestones – the IONIQ 6 N promises to redefine the N driving experience once more as a high-performance electric sedan.
The Kia EV3 has been awarded the highest possible rating of “Very Good” in the assisted driving test of Europe’s independent vehicle safety authority, Euro NCAP. Battery engineers at GM and LG Energy Solution have developed a new LMR prismatic battery cell that unlocks 33% higher energy density compared to the best-performing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) based cells – at a comparable cost.
The composition of LMR cells is much different – around 35% nickel, 65% manganese, and virtually no cobalt. Here’s why that matters: manganese is cheaper and more plentiful than either nickel or cobalt. The material in these cells is much less expensive. The chemistry also lends itself well to larger cell sizes, which further reduces system cost, with fewer connective and structural elements in a battery pack.

The solution applies the JF2S cell produced at LG Energy solution’s Wroclaw facility, offering 2.7-times more energy compared to the previous JF1 cell, along with an ultra-long lifespan of up to 15,000 cycles.
