SVOLT presents comprehensive portfolio of intelligent energy storage solutions at EES Europe 2024
SVOLT develops Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) for various applications, such as energy buffering in solar or wind power installations where load peaks can occur. Additionally, SVOLT ESS are used wherever dynamic capacity expansion is required, such as charging stations for electric vehicles or energy supply in remote areas. SVOLT thus targets energy providers, industrial and commercial customers, as well as households. Besides developing its own ESS solutions, SVOLT also supplies third-party providers with highly innovative and efficient battery cells for their storage solutions.

SK On develops polymer electrolytes for lithium metal batteries
SK On develops polymer electrolytes for lithium metal batteries
Polymer electrolytes are considered as the next-generation solid battery materials with low cost and easy manufacturing. However, they have lower ionic conductivity compared to oxide and sulfide-based electrolytes, which means they typically operate only at high temperatures of 70-80°C. Overcoming this limitation is one of the key challenges in the field.

May 2024 - Transition to EVs in Germany slows down
May saw plugin EVs at 18.5% share in Germany, down from 22.9% in May 2023, in a continuing hangover from the unexpected incentive abandonment in late December. BEVs were down some 31% in YoY volume, while PHEVs were up 2%. Overall auto volume was 236,413 units, down 4% YoY, and down 27% from 2017–2019 seasonal norms (~325,000 units). The best selling BEV in May was the Volkswagen ID.3. May’s sales figures saw combined EVs at 18.5% share, with full electrics (BEVs) at 12.6% and plugin hybrids (PHEVs) at 5.9% share. These compare with YoY figures of 22.9% combined, with 17.3% BEV and 5.6% PHEV.
Honda to begin sales of new N-VAN e: commercial-use mini-EV in Japan
Honda to begin sales of new N-VAN e: commercial-use mini-EV in Japan
The N-VAN e: realized both a sufficient practical range and a large cargo space required for commercial use through the adoption of a large-capacity battery, downsizing of the eAxle, and by minimizing the space occupied by components through a centralized layout of high-voltage components. In addition to realizing a range of 245 km (152 miles) on a single charge in WLTC mode, which is sufficient for a delivery service, one of the main commercial uses of EVs, customer convenience was pursued with charging time of approximately 4.5 hours for normal charging (6.0 kW output) and approximately 30 minutes for fast charging (50 kW output).

Xpeng impresses again at the world's largest EV test, El Prix
Xpeng impresses again at the world's largest EV test, El Prix
Among this year’s test vehicles, the new XPENG G6 stands out as a clear winner when considering the positive deviation from the stated range and charging speed relative to its price. The car covered a total of 530.7 kilometres, almost reaching the stated WLTP range of 550 kilometres. Thanks to the car’s 800-volt technology empowered by XPENG next-gen SEPA2.0 architecture, it also delivered very impressive figures during the charging test; the 87.5 kWh battery charged from 10-80% in just under 20 minutes, achieving a charging speed of an impressive 264 kW. This is only 55kW behind the test record set by the XPENG G9 in last year’s test. This news is a significant milestone for XPENG, signalling a continued positive presence in key European markets.
