JAC Sihao E10X unveiled with cobalt-free LFP battery (update)

SOL or Sihao in Chinese is a car brand launched by JAC-Volkswagen’s joint venture for affordable electric cars. Volkswagen originally planned to call the brand SEAT, but the Chinese government didnโt allow it. After some deliberations they decided to go with SOL, which means sun in Spanish (also in Portuguese).
SOL recently unveiled three new electric cars, the E10X, E20X and E40X atย the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Sihao is one of the thirteen brands of Volkswagen. Since June 2020, the strategic joint venture between Volkswagen Group and Jianghuai Automobile Group has been fully launched. After Volkswagen has acquired 50% of the shares of Jianghuai Automobile Group, it has followed Volkswagen Global Electric The development of new energy products, channel construction, and brand promotion of Sihao New Energy have been accelerated.
At the Guangzhou International Auto Show, A0-class product Sihao E20X, A-class product Sihao E40X and A00-class product E10X will all be on the stage. Among them, Si Hao E10X is the first public appearance, the German Bauhaus design style, in the same line as the Volkswagen iD series, simple and applicable ergonomics, rich intelligent experience, dazzling color matching, fashionable Q cute, can be called “A00 the most beautiful and pure “Electric crossover” has countless fans. Coupled with Volkswagen’s strong empowerment in R&D, manufacturing, quality management, etc., the product strength is beyond doubt!
The most interesting of the bunch is the small SOL E10X, which is a restyled version of the JAC iEV6E and will be launched in March next year.

Anyway, the JAC Sihao E10X with its super safe and affordable cobalt-free LFP battery would be a perfect replacement for the VW triplets in Europe. Volkswagen would just need to increase its maximum speed and relabel it as SEAT E10X.
Unfortunately, Volkswagen’s roadmap shows that it plans to introduce a proper replacement for the electric triplets only in 2025…

Hmm, interesting. What’s this B-suv for 23? Had never heard of it.
One or two years ago VW mentioned a model corresponding to the T-Roc, at the same price of a T-Roc, for 2023.
That would be amazing.
Now, what’s the B crossover for 2021 ?
That I never heard of. ๐
ID. 4 Coupe
I see.
Then maybe the one I referred to
(https://insideevs.com/news/342580/electric-vw-for-less-than-22900-coming-by-2023-2024/)
is the ID.2, which will be imported already from 2023 (as you also mention in another comment) (and that fits with the date in the linked article), and then produced in 2025 in Europe (as indicated in the roadmap above).
Clearly by segment B they don’t mean the one in the A to F (plus J, M and S segments) classification common in Europe, since, in that classification, B segment cars are small cars like Zoe, e-208, Corsa-e, …
Do you know what is the definition of Segment B and C they use ?
Do you have a link for that classification ?
Thanks
I think it refers to the old Volkswagen Platform System

ID Roomz
New rumors actually suggest, that JAC / Sol is developing the MEB Entry for ID. 1 + 2 with LFP. They are said to be imported from China to Europe in 2023 “at the earliest”, while local european production [Seat-Facotry in Spain] will start in 2025. Source in German:

Thanks Marc. Well 2023 is always better than 2025…
Another sub-compact crossover with LFP wonderful. This segment is getting popular along with this battery chemistry.
Global plugin vehicle sales hit 341.000+ in 2020-10. I wish someone comes up with 3+3 seating for maximum functionality.
The ID 1 and 2 are supposed to be Polo sized and not eUP sized so there is room for VW to bring over one from China…
If VW does not bring one at a great price someone else will and probably by 2023 too…
It will be interesing to see what the Dacia sells for and how many they sell…
I’m also interested to know more details on the Dacia Spring Electric. It’ll be a missed opportunity to produce it in China and not putting LFP batteries in it. Hopefully from more than one battery supplier.
This one looks good, but 45kW of motor power is too low, at least for me.
JAC-Volkswagen Co Ltd, the joint venture of Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co Ltd (JAC Motors) and Volkswagen AG has officially been renamed Volkswagen (Anhui) Co Ltd. This followed the completion of an equity transfer. VW now owns 75% of the joint venture.
VW also wants to (or already has?) acquire 50% of JAC Motors, which is/was wholly state-owned. In 2022 the last restrictions on foreign ownership of vehicle manufacturing companies expire. I think VW wants to acquire a majority at that time and convert JAC into something like Volkswagen China, where they will have full control.
JAC Motors’ major business is heavy trucks. The truck division already has a small joint venture with Navistar, an American truckmaker. Not long ago Traton (VW’s truck division) acquired all outstanding shares of Navistar. So in my mind, it all adds up… ๐
Here is a price?
The list you as the source but also list a price which I did not see here..
And a great price it is…
“Thanks to the use of this economical battery, and the production in China, JAC has managed to put a more than interesting price on a model that will start between 50,000 and 80,000 yuan, which at the current exchange rate would be between 6,290 and 10,000 euros.”

The official price isn’t known yet. It should be made available early next year, since deliveries are expected to begin in March.
Hopefully Dacia have success with the Spring which forces VW group to react. The triplets are already selling strongly. They sold 9733 units of triplets in Q1 in just Germany; https://www.best-selling-cars.com/germany/2021-q1-germany-best-selling-electric-car-brands-and-models/.
If Dacia Spring sells in volume and experience with other Manufacturers using the train to transport cars from China instead of Boat then VAG can review their plans for their Slovakia factory and put some other variant of the MEB platform in there.
Thank you for this informative post! It has shed light on a topic I was struggling to understand. Your writing style is engaging and the information is presented clearly. Great job!
