Renault ZOE reached new milestone: 200.000 units produced

200.000 Renault ZOE units produced

Just around the same time that Volkswagen announced the delivery of its 100.000th e-Golf, Renault doubles the feat by announcing a new milestone for the ZOE: 200.000 units produced.

On 25 November 2019, the Renault plant in Flins sur Seine (Yvelines) reached a symbolic milestone. At 3.10 pm, the 200,000th electric vehicle, a Renault ZOE, rolled off the production line. To mark the event, the lucky owner came from Holland specially to be handed the keys to his vehicle by the plant director.

On 25 November 2019, at 3.10 pm, a pearl black New Renault ZOE Intens rolled off the production line at the Renault plant in Flins sur Seine (Yvelines) to loud applause. It was the 200,000th electric vehicle to be built on the site since production of the 1st generation Renault ZOE began in 2012.

For this special occasion, the lucky Dutch buyer and the director of the Renault concession that sold the vehicle were invited to Flins. Jean-Luc Mabire, Plant Director, symbolically handed over the keys to this New ZOE to its delighted owner.

Since its foundation in 1952, the Renault site in Flins has produced over 18.3 million vehicles. It is the only Groupe Renault and Alliance site in the entire world that manufactures the Nissan Micra (since 2016) and the Renault ZOE (since 2012). Production levels increased by over 10% year on year and by mid-2019, 179,149 ZOE had been built. Since July 2019, Flins has produced over 15,000 New ZOE vehicles, which have been delivered to customers in more than 25 countries in Europe.

The Renault ZOE is by far the most popular electric car in Europe, but with more alternatives coming soon it’ll have a harder time keeping its title. Nonetheless, motivated by the much improved new generation ZOE ZE50 Renault expects to sell 100.000 units of its electric supermini next year. Will it succeed?

My interest in electric transportation is mostly political. I’m tired of coups and wars for oil. My expectation is that the adoption of electric transportation will be a factor for peace and democracy all over the world.

The Zoe ZE50 is a proper EV (and also very practical for families with small children) but it needs better tech (auto cruise control) and improved efficiency at high speed.
On paper it looks expensive, but don’t be put off by the list price, Renault dealers always offer lots of good deals, you just need to hassle them a bit to get the price down (in my experience).

Congrats Renault! I think 100.000 should be possible with some local leasing deals, with the updated much better interior and the great battery. Range is better than the Corsa-E or Peugeot 208e, VW will start later in 2020 and Renault can deliver from the begining! So : “Allez les Bleus”
