Last month only 1.993 Hyundai IONIQ EV were produced, of which 1.032 cars destined for exportation and 961 to the domestic South Korean market.

In total, 7.319 units of the hybrid variant were produced last month. It’s clear which variant of the IONIQ Hyundai prefers to sell. Given the size, range and technological features, the Hyundai IONIQ EV could be a great alternative to the 2018 Nissan Leaf, it’s a shame that Hyundai doesn’t produce enough units to satisfy current demand.
Thanks to a decentralized production in Japan, USA and UK, Nissan Leaf’s buyers won’t have to wait forever to see their cars produced and delivered.
Hyundai missed a great opportunity to deliver this great electric car in a much bigger volume before the arrival of its most direct alternative.
Furthermore, it won’t take long for the 2018 Nissan Leaf to surpass the monthly production rate of 10.000 units, then Hyundai’s production goal for the IONIQ EV of 4.000 units will appear unambitious.
