The 30 kWh Nissan Leaf is a success in Japan

Nissan Leaf in white

Considering that in 2015, only 9.057 Leafs were sold in Japan, the first two months of this year are already a success. More than half of the Leafs sold in 2015 is already sold in 2016 with just two months of sales.

This makes it very probable that the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be relegated to second place this year in its home country. With this happening maybe Mitsubishi will fell out of love with PHEVs and focus on BEVs.

I hope that the 30 kWh Leaf success will make Mitsubishi introduce the CA-MiEV.

Mitsubishi CA-MiEV could be Nissan Leaf’s rival

Meanwhile, until the CA-MiEV moves from concept into production, the current MiEV really needs a big price drop. Because if priced right, it can be on top of most sold electric cars. Like it’s now happening in France with the French brothers, Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn.

My interest in electric transportation is mostly political. I’m tired of coups and wars for oil. My expectation is that the adoption of electric transportation will be a factor for peace and democracy all over the world.

At least some good news for Nissan as they haven’t been many as of late.
