The heated seats is a simple but important upgrade. It’s the most efficient way to keep you warm in an electric car. This is a feature that every electric car should have.
This new version as the name suggests will be first available in Switzerland, but it will be extended to other countries later this year, probably with a different name.
I see this addition as an opportunity for Renault officially drop the price of less premium versions. Renault Zoe is already being discounted and an official price drop could draw the attention of less attentive potential buyers. Renault should start advertising the Zoe with a price tag around 15.000 €, not above 20.000 € as it is today.
The other Alliance’s partner, Nissan, is now heavily advertising the Leaf focusing on the recently improved range. Renault could focus in affordability, so both can complement each other. We already know that low range and high prices are the biggest obstacles of electric cars.
No word yet about the new 44 kWh battery, the announcement is very likely reserved for the Paris Motor Show held in October.
