I usually don’t like to comment concept cars or batteries, because in most cases they are just vaporware. But this is a different thing.
Mitsubishi already introduced too much SUVs PHEV concept cars, similar to what BYD is doing. Now this eX Concept represents a change in strategy. From plug-in hybrids to full electric battery cars. This is good news!
Everyday that passes the price per kWh is dropping and the energy density of batteries is increasing, there is no excuse to continue to produce electric cars with limited range.
Now back to the eX Concept.
MITSUBISHI ex Concept specifications
L x W x H (mm) 4240 x 1780 x 1575 Seats 5 Cruising range (JC08; km) 400 Max output F/R (kW) 70 / 70 Total capacity of battery (kWh) 45 Drive battery Lithium-ion cells Drivetrain Twin Motor 4WD
It’s no Tesla Model X, but If Mitsubishi produce it and price it right, it can have something to say. Now with the Volkswagen’s diesel scandal most of the automakers are waking up and turning to electric cars, the clock is ticking. Embrace the electric revolution or become obsolete. Tic tac tic tac.
