Volkswagen diesel scandal

We all remember what happen to Kodak when they refused to make digital cameras. Or Nokia when they opted by Windows OS, when it was already obvious that Android open-source OS would be the next big thing for smartphones. This makes me think that sometimes having a working brain is not needed to be a well paid CEO.

The money Volkswagen will lose with fines and lost of credibility could have been used to make a leading electric car program. This program would made the company a leader in electric mobility, that would be seen as an innovator like Toyota was when introduced hybrids, or Tesla Motors is seen today by making the best cars in the World using the latest technology available.

The only traditional automaker that seems neutral at electric cars is Renault-Nissan alliance. Carlos Ghosn says that it’s not his objective to help change the paradigm, but he will not fight it and wants to be ready for it when it comes. Toyota in the other hand is trying really hard to discredit battery electric cars. But most automakers, say electric cars will be great in a distant future, but they aren’t ready yet because of battery density limitations, which is a plain lie as Tesla Motors is showing everyone.

Pedro Lima

My interest in electric transportation is mostly political. I’m tired of coups and wars for oil. My expectation is that the adoption of electric transportation will be a factor for peace and democracy all over the world.
