Chevrolet Bolt will come to Europe as Opel Ampera-e

Opel Ampera-e

Opel Ampera-e will be a game changer.

This is what Opel has to say about the new electric car:

  • New Opel battery electric vehicle will break down barriers to electric mobility
  • Five-door, five-seat Ampera-e will have longer range than most electric cars
  • Fun to drive, outstanding connectivity and affordably priced

Opel says that 29 new models will be introduced between 2016 and 2020. Some will be plug-in cars. We already know two of those will be the rebadged Chevrolet Volt and Bolt. I still hope to see Opel Rak-e coming to the party. It would be an iconic car.

This are really great news for the future of mobility in Europe. For sure will push other makers to move or they will stand behind. VAG, PSA, FIAT, BMW, Renault-Nissan, Daimler wake up or you will become history.

I think only BMW and Renault-Nissan will be the real contenders in a near future. I’m excluding Model III since it will come up to Europe only during 2018, in my best predictions…

I think VAG group is also promising to release electric vehicles with fair range (about 300 km in real world scenarios) around 2018.

But will there be a right hand drive version?
